Orisec Alarm Integration

Has anyone had a go integrating with these?

It looks as though they have Control4 and Crestron RS232 modules you can buy, not sure if that is something that can be read?

Did you manage to integrate this?

No I spoke with Orisec, they said they don’t do anything like this.

I was wondering about buying a PoE ESP32 board and wiring the 10 Orisec outputs into it. There’s talk of a PoE board here I saw - LILYGO TTGO T-Internet-POE ESP32-WROOM LAN8270A - #20 by bremby

Bit of a faff was to have to do it though.

Looks like somebody had a go - GitHub - nmc888/Orisec2MQTT: A Node-RED flow for Home Assistant, integrating Orisec alarm panel zone states via MQTT.

I talked to an alarm engineer the other day as our system is pyronix at the moment which (apparently) is difficult to interface with and they suggested that we upgrade the board to Orisic. I said that I wanted an interface board to control/monitor via home assistant and he gave me this:

I’m assuming that this is the basis for the GitHub work above…it would be good to see some traction here @biggaz did you progress this at all?

I ended up buying a PoE LilyGo board, with the intention of wiring physical outputs from the alarm into that. Looks like it would need pull up resistors wiring in to drop the outputs from 12v to 5v. Then it turns out the inputs on the LilyGo board need soldering on they just came lose.
All in all, a massive pain in the arse, and I haven’t been that bothered to try and make it work.

@crom Is the document on Dropbox still available? Says “authorisation needed”?

Hi,
I have opened communication with Orisec about undertaking a direct HA integration.

They quite rightly have some concerns, but am hopeful we can find a solution.

To keep the momentum going it would be really helpful if you could email “[email protected]” to say you would welcome an integration with Home Assistant.

I’m happy to do the initial software dev/HA integration if I can get some documentation from them, rather than reverse-engineer.

Hi Colin,

I did as sugested and emailed Orisec. I have, in the past, found them very helpful with most things. This time was no different; I almost immediately got the following reply:-

We can provide the API to the individual in question should they wish to develop an integration with the Orisec control panels. We are happy to assist with any questions relating to the API itself; however, we are unable to support the development or creation of the integration.

We may consider developing our own integration in the future, but at present our focus remains on other ongoing projects.

Best Regards

Paul Reed

I trust this helps. They clearly have other priorities at the moment, but are happy to provide whatever information is required for someone else to craft the integration.

Thats great news, not got the API details from them yet, but inching closer.

I’ve sent you a direct message.

I remember looking at the Texecom one, and the issue seemed to be the Python code would pretty much document the API, so they did't want it released as open source. As I remember anyway.
Maybe this will pan out different.
