is anyone else having problems with osram zigbee bulbs? have had 3 flat out fail on me and die, and i have another 2 that every few weeks to a month drop off the network and are a right pain to get re-connected it usually involves resetting them and re adding the lights
Osram bulbs are famous about their terrible firmwares. If you can, drop them, and change to something else, like IKEA bulbs.
yeah that was what i was thinking about doing next i only have these 2 left i have a few ikea ones and they have been great as have Aurora (hive bulbs). tiz just annoying as they can be fine for ages then all of a sudden just drop off then be a mare to get them working again
Try to get there firmware updated to the latest. It might help. Or try to move them to the edge of your network to reduce issues with repeating and reboots. They do that as well.
I’m gunna see if I can get them updated it looks like some devices are possible with zha
The Lightify system is supposed to be up another year, https://www.osram-group.com/en/media/press-releases/pr-2020/09-03-2020 you could also get a used Lightify Gateway on Ebay, update them, then move them back to direct to ZHA… I’m not sure how well the zigpy Ota updates work as I have never enabled it… (doing so now, thanks for the reminder)
All of my Osram stuff used to be on the Lightify Gateway and got a few updates during that time. I removed them from the gateway after the announcement about the shutdown but they had been much more reliable (partially because my Zigbee mesh has many more devices now as well)
Also, the newer “Smart+ Bulbs” have worked very well for me… much better than the older Osram stuff I have.
It seems one of the problem bulbs was already on the latest firm ware. One of them updated via the ledadvance site through zha and a couple of my ikea devices gained an update to so will see how I get on and if they still misbehave il be looking for replacements
Actually I ordered from Amazon all what I have and returned them when they died. They do it often…
No questions were asked…
I’m having issues with these bulbs as well. They were working fine until I had to reset them to add them to a different network. No joy. I can still use them on the default brightness+colour though (i.e. non “smart”).
What does “die” exactly mean for you? Did the actual light die? Or are you also having issues with the zigbee networking aspect of it?
Non running ant IKEA or osram bulbs anymore the 3 that died totally failed and would not reset or do anything and went in the bin
