been at this a few hours - decided to use my always on Mac instead of a Pi.
But this is a pain.
Tried Docker for a few hours and came back to instructions per this page:

All looks good until I go to start it the first time.
Hangs on this statement (for at least 5 mins)
2019-01-24 02:53:10 INFO (SyncWorker_9) [homeassistant.util.package] Attempting install of async-upnp-client==0.13.8
Stopped the script (ctrl-c) and started again.
Hangs at the line BEFORE the previous error:
2019-01-24 03:01:19 INFO (MainThread) [homeassistant.setup] Setup of domain device_tracker took 0.0 seconds.
frustrated and out of ideas.
