Outdoor Luminance Sensor?

Hello

I used a wired Aeotec 6 in 1 sensor as an outdoor Luminance sensor, so various automations work when it gets darker… it worked perfectly, then it died and after months, I managed “to fix it” now it died properly. I only need the Luminance sensor as I have a weather station etc…

Any suggestions please? Wired or battery.

I use a BH1750 connected to an ESP8266 running esphome. All housed in a waterproof (IP68) clear polycarbonate box.

I was going to mount it on the roof but found that it works perfectly well on one of my northern windowsills (I’m in the southern hemisphere). So in my case the box did not end up having to be waterproof.

Ahh I hadn’t thought about that thanks! I have several spare NODEMCU and I think a couple of TEMT6000’s kicking about in on of my several junk drawers

Will have a play with esphome, as I never have looked at it. Cheers

I now have the new Xiaomi light sensor connected to deconz and works great (at least on of them) and also placed in the window sill

mine arrived today as the temt6000s are shite and very limited… 3 minutes and all up and running. Thanks! £3 is perfect
