Is there an outdoor motion sensor that will detect animals such as squirrels and birds so that i can activate my irrigation?
They are destroying my grass trying to find insects…
My irrigation is already controlled via hassio.
A motion sensor detects changes in the infrared end of the electromagnetic spectrum, in other words, fluctuations in thermal energy. If a motion detector’s sensitivity is elevated to the extent of detecting birds and squirrels, it will also indiscriminately detect blowing leaves, wind gusts, etc. All this to say that you might end up with a system that turns your lawn into a rice paddy. 
Philips Hue makes a motion sensor rated for outdoor use.
