Can someone recommend a battery operated Zigbee outdoor Motion detector?
I’ve had pretty good luck with the Aqara sensors inside my home
I plan on placing it under a 2 foot soffit so it would not be subject to direct sun, snow, rain… I’m in the Chicago area

I have Paulmann, Philips Hue and IKEA. The IKEA ones are not designed for outside, but the work well if protected from rain.
Even operated well during last Winter at -8*C.

I’m happy with the hue outdoor motion sensor.
The ‘new’ Ikea tradfri zigbee motion sensors are IP44 rated and safe for outdoor use. I have multiple of those.

Does the Ikea sensor require a hub or is it straight zigbee?

No hub required, pure Zigbee

I have 5 Aqara motion sensors outside. All are semi-protected being mounted under eaves. They have been functioning for over 2 years now. No issues. (Central Texas so no snow or temps below 10F).
Edit: Well, except for Valentines Week this year where we saw -5F… that was so weird. I don’t know if they worked then… NOTHING in Texas moved that week.

How does one identify the new motion sensor? Did they change the part number?
Thanks
