Outside integration-less hardware manufacturers?

Ok, so here it goes… let’s see if I can adequately explain my question. First off, I’m mechanically/Technically savvy. I’m a former heavy machinery mechanic, and I’m also a Systems Administrator. So I’m quite comfortable with automating my home. But that being said, I’ve just begun and went in head first… First bought some Samsung Smartthings Devices and a hub. (Couple light bulbs, couple buttons/temp sensors, and a couple of outlets. Then I came across HA, and decided to go that route, I’ve since bought and integrated about 15 Sonoff Mini’s flashed with Tasmota. My question is, what other Smart device hardware manufacturers are supported by HA, that do not require any additional hubs, cloud accounts and/or webhooks. Basically I want to purchase additional devices/Sensors that operate alot like the Sonoffs do over MQTT. I want to elliminate as many hops as possible, while also making sure the devices still operate as normal in the event the my internet connection goes down. I’m basically wanting to replace these Samsung Smartthings devices for something that directly connects to HA. Also wanting motion sensors, water level sensors, etc. In the end the only thing I want to rely on an internet connection for is the intergration of Google Home for the use of Voice controls, and the use of the Mobile app on my phone when away.

You can connect the smartthings devices directly to home assistant if you get a Zigbee USB stick. Then they would operate locally.

Really? Have a model preference?

Zigbee2mqtt.

For supported devices :

You have three choices of Zigbee integrations for home assistant. Each integration supports different USB sticks.

ZHA (https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/zha)
Deconz (https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/deconz)
and zigbee2mqtt as francisp suggested.

If you’re in the US, the HUSBZB-1 is a solid choice and is what I use. It’s compatible with ZHA. It also has a Z-wave radio which is nice. Otherwise take a look at the three Zigbee integrations and see what sticks are compatible and make a decision from there.
