OZCP Reports Dead Node?

I’m still just getting started with HA and started experimenting with potentially moving my Zwave network from OpenHab to HA.

In HA, I have OZCP setup and running and I can initialize a Zwave.me UZB1 controller in the OZCP web interface.

So I removed/excluded one lightswitch from my OpenHab setup that is using a Aeon ZStick. And then in OZCP web UI initialzed the UZB1 and initialized the device and attempted to include the light switch.

But the switch was added and shows as a Dead Node? And this is powered wall switch. So I’m not sure if this an OZCP issue, a Zwave.me issue, or maybe distance? This is the only device added to that controller, but the distance is no greater than about 15 feet from each other. I really have no easy way to bring that UZB1 controller closer as well as its attached a to larger Norco 4020 server case.

I have also tried resetting the UZB1 controller, hard resetting the light switch (air gap it) and then adding a second time. And the device was added again as a Dead Node?

And I have successfully re-added the light switch both back into the Aeon ZStick as well as Wink Hub, so it would seem the actual switch is just fine.

So… I went and shutdown the machine, moved the UZB1 from the back of the case to the front and think that gave a little better range. On a reboot and in OZCP the light switch came back as ‘Ready’ and I can control the light within OZCP.

But I think I’m struggling a bit to get the Zwave to show in HASS. I added only the usb_path for now with no other optional settings. But do not see in the HASS UI on a restart?

Just want to report back that i figure out my issue with ozcp working but not seeing it hass.

After checking the logs i found i needed to add my user to the dialout group.
