P1 cable directly from smart meter to Synology NAS

Hi,

I want to read the data from my smart energy meter. Can I plug a P1 cable connected to the smart meter directly in to my Synology NAS?

I have read somwehere (cannot find it anymore) that this uses Synology computing power 24/7. Because it has to store all data. Is this true?

Is there a better way to connect my Smart meter to HA?

I’m running HA in Docker on the NAS.

Did you ever get this working? I’ve just got myself a Synology and I’m not sure how to get the smart meter communicating with HomeAssistant in Docker
