I run a small business at home and been looking for a good “cheap” system to have a drop-off/pickup box outside my house so people ordering from shopify are able to collect the purchased item without me handing it to them directly.
Same if local postal service drop off packages they have code to open drop-off.
Then I thought maybe home assistant is the best solution for this, since It got lot’s of possibillities.
Same solution might be used for many different use cases.
So anyone got a good solution for this? Simplest is to manually add a code to a certain box and then have a notification when accessed so I know it is collected.
If this seems hard to do with HA I might have to look for other solutions.
Maybe someone here got similar project?
DIY is always a solution, but it depends on budget, how many items must there be at one time for delivery?
How large does each box need to be?
Or can it be one large box for all deliveries
How secure does it have to be?
You could use magnetic doors or solenoids and just a simple bookshelf type.
Ikea has a bookshelf that you can add doors too.
Add the magnetic magnetic switches on each door and control it with an ESP and your pretty much done.
But safety wont be high.
