Parkside 50m laser range finder integration

Hi,

I was surprised there is no useful laser range finder integration, so I have created some. I was able to integrate two laser sensors - Parkside PLEM 50 C2 and Parkside PLEM 50 C3. I use the C2 model to measure water level in water tanks.

Find it here:

These are my first integrations, so I guess there is a lot to improve.

Hi Pavel i would like to integrate this laser meter into an arduino project. Can you help me please? Since you basically reverse engendered this device
We could also chat in pvt, let me know :v:t3:

Hi, no problem. Which model do you need the help with? And how can I actually help you?

Hello Pavel!
I tried reverse engineering the C3 by myself and it didn’t go nowhere. I found your repo, can you message me and help me with some tips about how you reversed the I2C bytes?

Hello, basically recorded the communication and compared it to the different patterns on display. Nothing extra sophisticated, just a lot of work.

Hi Pavel,

this is amazing, I was also thinking why all the tank measure ideas are based on ultrasonic, or water preasure ADC measurements . And I wish i find ideally esphome friendly laser range finder that can easily measure 30meters and does not cost fortune. Don’t you please have any pictures of your instalation for me just tu visualise the instalation? Also based on your experience would it work with PLEM 20 B5? or the PLEM 50 D4? as I can’t find the C2 or C3 available now. Thank you
