Password for command line?

This is very strange. I’m trying to do some work through SSH. I can get into the RaspberryPi and log on with my password just fine. Then I switch over to the Home Assistant shell using:

sudo -u homeassistant -H -s

I get the prompt homassistant@raspberrypi:/home/pi

From that point, whenever I try to run any command line functions, I get this:

I did not enter any password during the install of Home Assistant (using Manual installation over a Raspian install), but yet, it keeps asking for one. My RaspberryPi password doesn’t work, nor does any password I would use for this (in case I forgot somehow and entered a password somewhere by accident – which I didn’t).

How can I get past this??? Is there a default password that gets set up during installation?

Thanks ahead!

Don’t use the home assistant user for sudo tasks. Use your normal account

I’m not a Linux master at all, so pardon if this is a simplistic question:

Where did this password come from and why don’t I know what it is? It seems that it was loaded automatically during the install. I followed the installation commands for manual to the letter. There was no request to setup a password, so it seems it was generated from within the installation. If so, I don’t like having someone else’s password in my system, and I’d like to clear it or reset it.

Thanks!

You didn’t set a password.

There is no password.

Sounds like you did fine.

Correct.

Nope. The installation of Home Assistant has nothing to do with setting passwords.

There isn’t a password, and there isn’t a need to clear anything or reset anything.
