I’ve had an incredibly difficult time trying to get Lovelace to install. After 5 hours troubleshooting with Gemini which was after 5 hours of scouring reddit and here, I gave up. I did a complete factory reset of my HA Green (I’m not that far into getting my house setup anyways) and went through everything again, starting with lovelace before installing anything else. It is still not working, I can’t create a dashboard from scratch and my example dashboard the integration installs looks like this:
I have no idea where to go, it seems clear some resource or directory is getting screwed up. I tried to download all the resources indicated on the lovelace documentation.
“Lovelace” is what dashboards were called when they were first introduced. Now we just call them dashboards. And the dashboard frontend does not need to be installed. It is part of the core Home Assistant application.
The screenshot you have shared appears to be the third party Lovelace-Minimalist UI. Is there any reason you want to use that rather than the built in core cards?
I think you started off on the wrong foot. Using the term Lovelace is consistent with following outdated information, something AI tends to do, regurgitating outdated slop as gospel, leading you up the garden path. The world of home automation is very fast moving - last weeks’ examples are this weeks’ kitty litter, and you need to read the actual Home Assistant documentation carefully, understand it, follow any given examples, and go from there. You can be assured it is updated by the developers, up-to-date, and accurate.
It won’t be as easy as asking some AI bot that has scooped up information from unknown users with difficulties, posting wrong and buggy examples of what is causing them grief, but at the end of the day, you will be able to confidently modify dashboards, using your new found knowledge with skill and precision.
Yes, that’s correct I just didn’t want to type the full Lovelace-Minimalist UI each time but that’s exactly what I’m trying to install and wasn’t aware of the history of the term. When I was looking at youtube videos of what’s possible with HA installing that 3rd party integration was appealing based on the dashboards I saw being created.
I started out by spending a lot of time reading through the Lovelace Minimalist UI wiki and then searching the web for answers. Gemini has helped solve a lot of tech issues so while AI slop is obviously an issue it doesn’t mean it’s not a worthless tool. However my reading of the wiki, searching for answers online and trying AI hasn’t helped so here I am. I’ve tried installing this integration through HACS 3 times and manually and I get the same configuration errors any way I do it.
