pfSense Custom Integration > core

The pfSense custom Integration is out there and working. I think a lot of people use it to pull in device trackers and various other things. I don’t think anything is ‘wrong’ with is at this point.

However there are 2 pages of issues leading back a couple of years and there have been the very minimal of changes to it in the past year or 2.
This is leading me towards the authors support may be waning, and the project needs a bit of a boost. There is a big base of pfSense users out here I’m sure.

So this is a call for someone to pick up the project and pull it into core where it will have more visibility and hopefully better support. I am not the author or affiliated with the author in any way, just a user that doesn’t want to see anything happen to the only way I know of for some pfSense users to get device trackers. There is no way I could pull that off, so putting this out there looking for someone with a vested interest in the project that could take it over the goal line.

I think the work is mostly done, as it seems to work fine. I don’t know the code base or anything. That’s all beyond me. I did contact the author a few years back, and they didn’t appear to want to commit to moving it to core themselves at that time. That’s all I know.

I think to get this into core you’d have to split pypfsense out and get it into pypi. Development Checklist | Home Assistant Developer Docs
