Hey All, brilliant to have a Dynalite plugin. Many thanks to everyone involved in developing.
I bought a home with Dynalite installed. I have Hass and the plug-in up and running and my devices configured and working. The only thing that does not work is the status of devices. It does not update them when I first load nor does it pickup any status changes unless done via Hass. For curtains, the status updates really slowly eg takes 3 or 4 minutes for status to update in Hass when the curtain may only take 30 seconds to close. I have active and autodiscover enabled in the yaml file. I have the standard Philips network bridge.
Any tips as to how I can fix / debug ?
Iām considering a Dynalite install and HASS integration is a must. The fact that this thread stalled two years ago worries me.
Does state update now when devices are controlled via regular Dynalite switches?
No, they still sync very badly
@uzelac @ziv sorry to dig up an old thread.
Are you guys still working with this?
I just received a rs485 to Ethernet device. This one here:
https://amzn.asia/d/ebFWnDy
Would you guys be able to help me get it up and running and talking to HA?
I am afraid that gateway is not really going to help in this case.
You need the PDEG or PDDEG-S. The PDEB will also work, but is limited in other ways.
With a bit of a struggle, it got it up and running with that device.
As others have stated, with HA there is no need for a PDEG or similar product. These $20-$60 devices manage to communicate
That is great news! Are you able to get updated states too?
Do let us know the details, I have Dynalite and have an RS485/ethernet adaptor, but canāt for the life of me get them to work together. Not keen to drop $1k for the other solution.
i get status updates, but only if it was controlled by HA. If i control it at the wall panel (antumbra) then no status updates come through, which im fine with.
I wired it directly into the dynalite controller, piggy backing existing cables immediately to the left of the RJ12 port. Wired it into the RS484/ethernet adapter and ran the necessary config on that.
The auto-discover mode didnt work for me, but luckily i dont have too many zones, and was able to work it all out.
Which parts are you struggling with?
Finally, I think found a way around to automatically update the state of channels level by creating automation. So basically, if you trigger area preset on (preset1), off (preset4), scenes (other preset#) and dimming it does not send request channel level to update the individual channels levels. So, by creating automation based on this condition, you can get the accurate channel level value using the call service (request channel level on) via automation to be triggered by any changed in state or any attributes and it will automatically have a correct state and update of the individual channels levels.
Same also if you trigger an individual channels level to sync feedback with (preset1), off (preset4), create an automation with individual channel as our trigger and then do test confirm brightness if 0 then action send area to off (preset4), if brightness is 254 then action send area to on (preset1).
Let me know if this works for you.
This thread has been very helpful for me. Iāve managed to get a Dynalite system integrated very reliably into HA. Iāve tested with a few different cables and boxes. Firstly for a pre-fabricated cable you can buy these nice RJ12 6P6C with labelled ends on them. This saves you from having to splice up a cable yourself.
If youāre using a PDEB or PDEG then I found this cable worked perfectly. They both come with a static IP address but you can use System Builder to change their IP address or switch them to DHCP. The two big keys I found was when in System Builder click on Insert Devices from Network, then press the small button on the PDEB/G and itāll get discovered. Once youāve made changes then right click on the device and click Save To Device...
Donāt forget to set them to use DyNet1 instead of DyNet2.
If after adding the Philips Dynalite integration to HA and you need to change the IP address of the device under Global Settings I found you can edit the core.config_entries
file under /config/.storage
Search for the existing IP address, change it then restart HA.
Hi Mark,
Have you been able to find a solution for this?
I havenāt tried any furtherā¦
āI am using a Philips Dynalite system that controls multiple zones across my setup. I am looking to integrate this system with Home Assistant to centralize and simplify the control of all zones. My goal is to ensure that the integration process is automated, as I do not have sufficient experience with Home Assistant. Please provide guidance or solutions to help me achieve this setup efficiently and easily.ā We want step by step
Hi Robbie,
I have been able to install the RS485 to the Dynalite system. It shows as connected on System Builder.
However, I cannot find a way to have HA control the lights or even for System Builder to load the installed devices.
Any help is much, much appreciated.
To have HA connect to Dynalite, DyNet to Ethernet translation is the best option for you. For that to work one of the ethernet gateways have to be installed.
I got it to work, Jonas, thank you. Now my issue is that SB finds most (but not all) controllers and only one user interface panel. Iām at a loss as to why that is.
Is this a new installation? Are the missing panels working as intended?
If it is an old system, you may have to tick the ālegacyā field when searching for devices.
Itās from 2015, so, pretty old. I did tick the ālegacyā field but all I got was one user interface panel.
Is there such thing as user panels working without being connected/found by SB?
