Philips Hue Contact Sensor

I’ve just got the new Philips Hue Contact sensor and it’s all setup in the Hue app.

After reloading the integration in HA, I was able to see this sensor, great!

When I go to automations and try and set the sensor up as a trigger, the only condition is ‘when battery level goes below a certain value’.

How can I set an automation up to trigger when the contact sensors state changes?

Maybe cos this is new hardware, the Hue integration needs an update?

Most likely - make a feature request.

Hi, This may have been answered elsewhere but whomever is reading is later the Hue Contact Sensor works with the open/close, battery and tamper sensor. Status Oct 2024.

assume this device works well connected directly to HA with Zigbee? Does anyone think it’s worth the extra $ over others? I always choose their bulbs that come at a premium but It think are worth it.

I would say no - here I can get 3 Aqara door sensors for the same price as a single Hue one. Compared to the bulbs (good minimum dimming level for example) there should be nothing that justifies that big price difference - it’s a simple door sensor.
