I am trying to set up a new Philips Hue Hub. The Hub is auto discovered just fine with a “Configure” button listed. I then select the button and a new window pops up titled, “Link Hub”. It says to press the button on the bridge to register the hub with HA. After I push the button on the Hub and then select the “Submit” link in the window, I get the “Failed to Register, please try again” error. I setup the Hub by itself with the iPhone app and tested a light and it worked fine. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
In order to use the Philips hue bridge with home assistant. You need to first setup the hue bridge within the hue app on your IOS device. This will configure your hue bridge with the basic setup needed to control your lights through your network and allow it to communicate properly with home assistant. Once this has been done then go back into home assistant and re link your hue bridge to home assistant after it links your lights should be discovered through home assistant which will allow you to control them,
Hope this was helpful.
Did you ever resolve this? I’m having the same issue.
Have a fresh Home Assistant install upgraded to latest version 0.100.3
Have a Philips Hue bridge that is configured on my phone and working
By putting the bridge’s IP in configuration.yaml it appears as “Discovered” in the integrations list.
When I click “configure” on it, then press the button the Hue bridge, I get “Failed to Register, please try again”.
I don’t see anything reporting to the logs.
Thanks,
Mike
This does not make any sense to me.
I have Devolo home plugs, the older version, not the Magic ones.
Had a Hue hub plugged in in another room, could ping the bridge. The lights attached to the hub and could be managed by Google Home.
I got the problem above trying to register the hub with Home Assistant.
Moved the hub to the same Devolo the Raspberry Pi 3 running Home Assistant is connected to (by WiFi). Voila, hub appears and allows me to register it. All the lights appear in Home Assistant.
This makes no sense.
