Philips Hue Smart Plug: Light to Switch

Hello! I am brand new to Home Assistant from Homebridge.

I have a Hue Smart Plug that I use to control my 3D printer.

I was able to create a switch template which appears in Home Assistant. However, my primary concern is to have it appear as a switch and not a light in HomeKit.

Prior to using HA, in Hue or Homebridge, the smart plug appeared as an outlet.

Ex: Last night I started a print before bed, said “shut off all lights”, and the printer shut off. :confused:

How do I either a) change the entity to a switch or b) add my switch template to Homekit, and hide the ‘light’ version?

You can change how a device shows up by changing the device class.

To add, using the helper to change switch to other device_class’s actually adds an entity so those should show correctly and share to other integrations correctly.
Open your Home Assistant instance and show your helper entities.
