Philips remote is not recognized

Not sure if this is software or hardware related.
I have set up a IR receiver with dump: all and it works great with my Yamaha remote.
Now I wanted to learn my TV remote also, but the YS-IRTM receiver doesn’t react to the remote.

Anyone know if this is due to ESPhome or the receiver?

Impossible to say without knowing the tv make and model.

As the title says Philips. Model… I don’t know. Something with numbers in it I guess
I’m suspecting it uses a different wave length or something. I just figured if someone has got their Philips TV working with ESPhome then I could rule out one.

Why is it that computer screens always have the model number printed on the front and TV’s at a very inconvenient place, with very small letters, on the back?
I mean it’s far easier to just flip a computer screen around, yet it’s printed on the front…

Try dump: rc5 as Philips models are generally RC-5 protocol.

In general, TV companies don’t change what works, so an LG remote will turn on an LG TV form a different model. The older remote might not have buttons for newer functions.

As far as Philips RC-5 protocol goes see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RC-5. It is 36khz.

That didn’t work either.

Looking at google, it looks like that is an nec protocol specific device. Is that so?

Not that I have noticed.
It works on most of my Yamaha receiver remotes buttons.
It works with my Sagem ( I believe) set top box.
It works with LG blu-ray player.
And it works with the Benq projector.

No I don’t believe it’s Nec only, or in that case everyone else use Nec codes also.

A lot of manufacturers do.

It’s receiver, YS-IRTM is only for NEC code. I have the same problem with Philips TV and Panasonic Air.
