Physical wiring: how to?

Hello,

I’m very new to home automation, but I’m a free software lover and am in the process of renovating part of my home: basically, the living rooms + office + kitchen + bathroom.

I’m a bit paranoid when it comes to wireless, and the whole electric network will be rewired from scratch. So I’d like to wire it so that HA can control everything.

Now the big question: how do I do that ? I heard about KNX, but is this the only/best standard out there ? Is there something more adapted ?

Thanks,

Rémi

Generally,if you are using wired smart switches, be sure there is a neutral wire in each switch box. This is not normally needed for regular switches. Both Zwave & Zigbee switches require the neutral wire to provide them power for their radios.
