Pi 3 b+ ..wont install

Is there a problem with installing on pi 3 b+?. I’m trying to install hassio on my raspberry pi 3 b+. I’ve tried the 32bit and 64bit image but it stops at the same message. ipv6: ADDRCONF(NRTDEV_UP) hassio: link is not ready. Is this a driver problem? I waited for 2 hours but nothing.

I’ve installed my hassio on a 3b+ without issues. Can you give a more detailed view of the steps you take and where the error pops up?

Hi

Thanks for the reply. I followed the steps on home assistant website to install on pi. I plugged in HDMI to monitor to watch and it gets to ipv6: ADDRCONF(NRTDEV_UP) wlan0: link is not ready…brcmfmac power management disabled… And it just keeps repeating that. I can see an ip in my router, but the site will not load even using the ip address. I have a brand-new canakit and it works with openhab, but I’d really like to try hassio. Any ideas?

If you are trying to install using wifi, then you need to go through the additional steps using a USB key to provide the required wifi information. If you can use ethernet, then it should work without any intervention as long as you have something providing DHCP on the network.

I have just reinstalled my 3b+ without issues too. I would suggest plugging in the ethernet cable to avoid wifi setup.

I agree. Also on the Pi, the bluetooth and wifi have some shared resources, so there have been some challenges if you are using both on the same Pi.

Weird why works for some not others. This problem is mentioned on githhub, they found a solution changing the network connection settings. But it didn’t work for me or another user. Maybe I should try without the ethernet cable plugged in.

Were you trying both?

Neither worked, I’ve given up for now, I’ve tried at least 10 times with no luck. Back to openhab. I will try hassio next release.

Assuming your router is providing DHCP, I would make sure that IPV6 is disabled. I seem to remember something about IPV6 casusing challenges.

I downloaded the 32 bit image, flashed the micro SD card using balenaEtcher, put it in the Pi.
I used a network cable directly from the router to the Pi.
Powered it on and 15 minutes later I could access http://hassio.local
No problem.

I’m stumped as to why it wont work for me. I already had IPV6 turned off. I will try again later I do really want to try home assistant out. Like say I have come across the same problem posted elsewhere at github.

The same problem here. Wired=Fail Wifi=Fail.
Whatever I try it won’t work. Hope you guys can help us out.

Maybe try it with a different laptop, rpi, sd card or even if possible try this at a different place (friends, parents or something like that). Are you using the right power supply? Are you using balenaetcher to flash? Do you have the right router settings? Most likely the case it that you have a small bug somewhere, it could feel useless to try these things but i had the same problem once. For me the original charger didn’t give me enough current and it seemed useless to try a different charger but after all it worked for me. Good luck!

Hi, I know that this is some months old but I have also being pulling my hair out as I wasn’t able to install HAS.IO and think I have a solution that worked for me. I’ve read many posts and tried many suggestions without any success. I was able to install HA using Hassbian, but as you know this doesn’t have the addons. I had flashed an SD multiple times and tried using WiFi as well as hard wired network install but it just wasn’t happening. Using Fing I could see the Hasio Pi, but there was no ports showing.
I have now installed Hassio after creating a Hotspot with my mobile phone and configuring a USB to connect to the Hotspot. After 20 minutes I was in. Hope this helps some of those people that are struggling. I’m not sure why this works but I had concluded that something on my network was blocking. Once installed I’ve connected back to my normal network and all is good.
