I’m really sorry if this has been posted or answered elsewhere, I tried my best but did not find a proper helpful answer.
I’ve been wanting to switch from a SD card over to a SSD for some time, so last week I took the step and did it. I have used this guide, along with a compatible sata to usb adapter (startech) according to this page.
The install went fine, the snapshot restore went fine, but the problems started to occur after restoring the snapshot. My homeassistant got very slow. It’s almost unusable as several integrations often don’t work and the system takes a long time to load pages. The weird thing is that the booting times aren’t worrying long.
I really don’t want to, but will a fresh install fix my problem? Or is there a different fix for the unresponsiveness?
This for me this was the issue. I bought an Inverso external SSD and it was slow and after a reboot HA took more than 15 minutes to start up or even did not start up at all.
Looking at the link dc31xx shared I think this might be the issue. My external SSD was a UASP drive, but most likely with the wrong chipset. As it was to difficult for me to change the configuration (I am not a unix specialist) and I just want something to work, I decided to return the external SSD. I went for a safe solution as I saw in other topics that a Startech USB-Sata adapter and a Kingston A400 SSD always works. And I can confirm, it is fast and stable after reboot. Although this is only my first findings and I need to further setup HA, the start is already very different as night and day.
