Pi 5 with the SunFounder PiPower 5 UPS

I just purchased and installed this little UPS. Here is their Documentation:

https://docs.sunfounder.com/projects/pipower5/en/latest/index.html

They have some software to manage the UPS. It will take a bit to see if it rungs along with Home Assistant OS

Interested in this if you get anywhere, I had an initial look but needed to do some surgery to my HA install to be able to enable access to the I2C.

I have the same UPS but I have my HomeAssistant OS on a SSD connected via USB to my RasPi4. Do you have any ideas how I can use the PiPower5-UPS in my setup?

I followed these instructions: Installing Home Assistant on a RPi 4b with SSD boot

I have the same UPS, but my setup is a bit different:

  • RasPi 4 with 8 GB RAM
  • SSD with my HA-OS connected via USB3 to my Pi and this is the boot patrition.
  • PiPower 5

I wonder how to use the PiPower 5 in this setup. Are there any suggestions?

  1. Open HACS from your sidebar.
  2. Click the three dots in the top right and select Custom repositories.
  3. Paste the URL: https://github.com/sunfounder/home-assistant-addon
  4. Set the Category to Integration and click Add.
