I use a Raspberry Pi for HA as well as a handful of Pi’s for Music in the house as well as a Pi 5 for a Media centre under my TV. I like the little small acrylic cases for some of my Pi’s but I kinda needed something a little more “robust” for the Media streaming on the TV. Maybe overkill but I bought the “Piroman 5, by SunFounder and a 1TB SSD M.2. I like building little computers and this project was a fun afternoon and then… well all of the configuring was me in front of my computer, networking, installing an OS and the usual “complexity barriers”. Overall I now can access my 4TB of movies and my server and play YouTube 8K videos without a glitch. Currently my HA is on a Pi 4, with a Kingston 250GB tethered via a USB 3 in a small acrylic case on my desk. But overkill or not I might update it? And yeah, I have way too much time on my hands…
*Note: I updated my HA installation with a new Pi 5 so I built one of these cases for it. I painted it yellow so it stands out more on my desk. I love these little PC cases, and they are fun to build.
