Pi4 dead - any help please

I’m a noob, had my Pi4 running on an SD card for 4 weeks - got Node red controlling the house nicely, learnt a lot. Noticed the time and date was wrong and weather.met stopped working so checked and it seems it was DNS related possibly.

Changed the settings and it refuses to boot now, will not ping, no web page.

It was set up using the default image from Hass.io

I have no monitors or keyboards here, it was dead-heading via my laptop/browser.

Is it possible the SD card has died already? I can read the card on my PC (a VM running on MAC laptop)

I have ordered a new SD card but of course we have no house control now until at least tomorrow, probably the day after. I do have Samba backups but no idea yet if they contain all i need to get back up.

Any ideas???

Most easy solution is, you have got another IP adress.

You could

  1. look at your router, perhaps you will discover your RasPi.
  2. Attach a TV to your RasPi and look at the console output

Hi, the IP was static, i will have to order a micro HDMI adapter first for the TV and get a keyboard

Sry, I’m new to hass io.
Isn’t there a configuration file where you can simply write the correct settings?
Maybe posting your settings might help.

I got a new image up and running on another SD card, tried a restore but all it did was revert the IP address to the base install one ( i changed it in config-server) and nothing else - no devices, entities, flows etc

How do i restore???

When you connected to the new instance for the first time, it asked you to create an account or to restore from a snapshot. If you chose to create an account, you missed the easiest opportunity to restore your old snapshot.

Now you must copy the snapshot to the RPi4. To do that, you will likely need to install and configure the Samba Add-on then copy the snapshot to the backup directory. Once that’s done, the snapshot will appear in Supervisor > Snapshots and can be restored.

Thanks, yes i did miss that option so reinstalled samba and did the copy-restore, i will have to document this for future use.

i do have a log-in now and its restarting after me having forgotten to plug in the zigbee dongle
