I have HAOS running on a Pi4 and I have a Pi5 with M.2 NVME drive with a new HAOS install and on the onboarding screen I tried to restore from a backup .tar file from the Pi4 but it never goes anywhere even after the 45 min’s it says it might take, is what I’m trying to do possible?
Yes it should be possible.
Try logging in to the pi5 with a throw-away account (it will be overwritten). Install the SAMBA or SSH add-on. Upload your backup and then on the Settings → System → Backups page click the “Reload” option in the three dots icon top right of the page to see your backup. Try restoring it from there.
