I had HA running on an SD card and it recently died on me so I decided to use an SSD instead since I have a few of those lying around. I installed a PCIe M.2 HAT+, used the bootloader utility image to configure the pi to boot from nvme, and then installed a fresh copy of HAOS on the SSD using the pi imager. It seems to boot from the SSD but has various errors here and there and just never completely starts. I tried the latest version (14.1) several times, 13.2 a couple times, and even 12.3 once or twice. None of them would ever start. However, when I load the Raspberry Pi OS (2024-11-19) everything boots up, installs and works just fine. Oh, I also tried a couple of SSDs…
I can’t figure out what the issue is. If the hat or the ssd were an issue I would think rpi os wouldn’t work either, and yet it works just fine. I’m perplexed and have no idea how to troubleshoot the issue to determine what the problem is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I’ve gotten various errors such as “SQUASHFS”, “EXT4-fs”, “Buffer I/O error on dev nvme0n1p*”, and “erofs”. What’s going on? How do I figure out the issue?
