Pico 2 W Initial Setup

Device is Pico 2 W - unable to add into esphome

I add a device into esp home, Set the name, Select device type ad Raspberry Pi Pico W

Select Install and chose the manual download to download the uf2 file

Plig the Pico 2 W into computer while pressing the bootsel buttom, the device shows up in file explorer and i move the downloaded file over and nothing happens.

If i use Thorny i can set up the PICO 2 W with the basic FW no issue and putty to the device on COM3

So why wont it accept the downloaded file?
New to HA and esphome so i may have done something

Please post your yaml and a log of you flashing the firmware with esphome. (I have never heard of simply “moving the file over”. (But then again I haven’t used a pico 2w on esphome).

Also do you have the right device? Not all Pico’s are supported, as you will be aware from the documentation.

Further reading shows Pico 2 not supported as yet, so thats my issue
