Picture Element For Weather Radar - Auto Refresh?

Hi, I am using weather radar from the local tv station, its a jpg that updates every 5 min or so. I used a picture element as it let me put a star where our house is on the radar map. For this reason I believe any solution must use picture element.

The issue is, it seems picture element doesnt have a setting for auto refresh? Does anyone have a suggestion how I can make this work?

Thank you.

Define a generic IP camera to point to the jpg URL.

Set the frame rate very low to prevent spamming the tv stations website ( 0.016 frames per second = 1 minute updates).

Put your camera in a picture entity card. Set show state to false. Displaying the name is up to you.

Tom, thank you but will I still be able to place the star on my address? I was under the impression that was only possible for picture element card, unless you meant to say picture element instead of picture entity? because picture entity doesnt appear to have the option to place an icon on it.

EDIT: I assumed you meant picture element and tried it and it works perfect!!! Thank you Tom!

The “generic” camera seems to state that the framerate must be an integer so how do we enter 0.016?

Running into same issue here… We can only set an integer which will update a weather image too often. Any ideas? I would like my image to update every 60 minutes. Thoughts?

I know this is an old thread, but maybe this will help someone. It won’t let you type it in, but it does seem to work if you paste into the field? That is, I can’t type 0.0016, but I can Ctl + V and it retains it.
