Pir sensor

hello every one, i am newbie. I am using home assistant on raspberry pi 3. I want to use pir sensor connect home assistant by mqtt and node mcu esp8266. Help me do it. Thank you so much.

Wouldn’t waste my time on ESP8266 + cheap pir modules. Due to RF interference I got a lot of false positives. Have tried almost all suggestions found online, without any succes.

I would suggest buying cheap Xiaomi Smart Human body sensor’s. €10,= and a one-time gateway purchase €25,= and you are ready to go. Battery times over a year, super small form factor and rock solid Zigbee communication.

thank you.

The false triggering is annoying. A simple ground plane acting as a shield works or simply creating more distance from the PIR.

I tried to setup PIR cheaply using the Sonoff RF bridge and their PIR sensor. It kind of worked, delay time was about 3/4 seconds before triggering the automation to turn the light on.

Then the cheap PIR sensor died & I decided to go down the Z-Wave route. Been working well for about 8 weeks now & delay time is much shorter.

i use an “am312 pir sensor” hooked up to a esp8266 and havent had a single false trigger. i wrapped the sensor with electrical tape, then a layer of aluminum foil, then another layer of electric tape. no proof this actually does anything, but its been working flawlessly for me for what its worth.

I can confirm using AM312 is a reliable on the budget alternative. Try it. It’s cheap.
