Plans for trådfri from IKEA? Are we holding back?

Just did some reading, based on the Logitech closing their API, on the IKEA intentions. And found this: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/customer-service/smart-lighting-support/faq-smart-lighting/compatibility-protocols/

It seems they have an ambition to open up the API, and the current implementation is based on some reversen-engineering. Is that the reason for no updates on the current issue that blocks usage of Trådfri devices with Hass?

In the past Home Assistant has had a good relationship with IKEA, last time they changed the API they sendt “us” a headsup and provided information about the new method.
