I have been using Home Assistant for a couple of years. I use HA almost exclusively for Z-Wave switches and outlets - sunrise/sunset scenes and accessing some switches that are hard to reach. I installed Home Assistant quickly on VMWare (under Linux). As much as I like Home Assistant, Linux/VMWare is more overhead than I need for what I use Home Assistant for. I would be interested hearing opinions about Home Assistant installation platforms that would be easier to manage than Linux/VMWare. In the past (may still be the case) there are limitations of certain Home Assistant platforms using Z-Wave (I am currently using Z-Wave JS).
