This is one of those does the HA infrastructure support this type of questions. When someone is putting together a platform or device (not sure what to call it), can a attribute be included that can be set that is not part of the devices offerings?
Here is where I’m going with this. I have a temperature sensor that I want to know when it’s above or below a certain temperature. Simple enough to figure out with a template. It would be nice though if the sensor platform, knowing that it’s a temperature sensor, could accept min/max temperature settings set in the configuration file Then the sensor could theoretically just return an on/off depending on whether the temperature is above the high value or below the low value.
