Plugging in ESPs

This is a slightly off-topic question, but I have a few esp8266’s that ideally will be placed in locations that aren’t near wall outlets. I could potentially run the cord just under the carpet on the group or along the floor trim, but I was curious what other people do.

I could also attempt to run some wires behind the wall, but without good access, I’m unsure how to run a wire horizontally past the studs.

I’m living with others that care about the look of a room, so aesthetics are extremely important. Wires need to be as hidden as possible.

Thanks in advance!

Why cant you just put them where the power outlets are?

Have you considered lower power battery devices like zigbee or zwave?

Mostly because I can’t justify a single sensor-use of my ESPs. They are too cool and too multi-functional. So I usually have lights attached to it with a few different sensors. The specific one that prompted this post is lighting a dark stair well. So it has a PIR sensor, atmospheric sensors, etc.

I keep looking at hosting a Zwave JS server and dive into that protocol, but honestly haven’t done it yet. Between the equipment and it (seemingly) having people that either love or hate it, I haven’t taken the plunge.

Though I know I will adopt it soon. I would like to add door sensors and connect my fire alarms etc.
