I am in the market for a portable air conditioner. I would like to get one that integrates well with home assistant. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I never found anything, so I just settled for a dumb unit. Let me know if you found something that works.
Any WiFi based Portable AC would likely work. Even non WiFi ones could be made smart by wiring into the control board, see this as an example: GitHub - alufers/jhs-climate-esphome
It seems a lot of Portable AC’s have JHS boards. I have a Goldair Portable AC that came with a Tuya chip. It’s plugged into a WiFi port on the device that you can easily unplug and add your own ESP device. If you’re going to use the WiFi port then this would work well: SNMetamorph/esphome-jhs-ac-component: ESPHome component for air conditioning units manufactured by JHS
It seems to support at least the following brands but likely many more as there are heaps of whitelabeled JHS ACs: Timberk, Hyundai, Scoole, Lifetime Air, Goldair & Nedis.
