Hello, I have been trying to find a more efficient way to do what I am doing. I have a computer that runs 2 large poultry barns on my farm. I can set the computers up to dump data to an FTP server every 1-60 mins in the form of either a .json or .xml file. I am currently using Integromat to look for new files every 15 mins and parse the data into a json message and send it to HA via webhook, however I would like to make the update time more frequent and with doing this Integromat gets very expensive. Is there a way I can do this locally on HA? The FTP server is not running locally, but in the cloud so I am sure that adds a little more complexity to this. I checked with manufacturer of computers and they have no API or way to connect to a third party. Any ideas on what directions I should take or avenues I should pursue?
Have you worked this out? You don’t mention what hardware platform or cloud FTP you are running. Many different solutions for each.
I have not really figured out an efficient way to do it. The hardware that I am using to poll the information from the barn computers is propriatary to the computers. Its a little black box they sold me that runs windows on it, when plugged in - it will auto boot and start running the software. The reason I know its Windows based is because it has the windows screen on startup and automatically fills in the username and password to login and the software starts automatically. The documentatio for the hardware is here - Rotem Comm-box. To remotely login to device you need to go to Rotem Net Web, there I can access all my information. There is also a mobile app for iOS and Android. I would really like to figure out a better way. There is a demo that can be logged into from the Rotem Net Web screen to see the information that it is polling from a barn computer.
