I am reaching out for some help with my current project.
Recently I had a sliding gate installed for my front fence. It uses a Powertech PL800 unit to control the gate.
It works with 433Mhz remotes and WiFi.
It uses an APP called Eyeopen that is available on Android and IOS to control the gate from you phone via WiFi.
It claims to be able to link with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
However after many emails between myself and the Taiwan supplier I have just got the Google Assistant to work with voice commands. It is secure as you need to issue a PIN for these Voice commands via either voice or typing.
The Alexa is not functional yet and I am still talking to Taiwan about this.
I was hoping that when I got Google Assistant working that I might see some entities in Home Assistant via NABU CASA but wishful thinking there.
Google Home classifies it as a door.
One of the things on my WISH LIST was to be able to test the status of the sliding gate in HA .
For example I currently have an Automation that runs every night that check all my doors are closed and send me a push message if they are not all closed. I was hoping to include the sliding gate in this automation.
Of course there are other things that would be real handy like testing battery condition in the PL800, Power loss to the Pl800 and so on but I think this would require more code on Powertech’s behalf.
Anyway without going on too much more I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to be able to be able to use HA with this project?
Thanks for the heads up. I did not know that they had updated the RF Bridge.
However unless I missed it they don’t mention 433MHz Remotes with rolling codes being catered for?
In any case I don’t think it would solve all my WISH LIST.
My existing system does now have a Wi-Fi connection. Yes I had to extend my Wi-Fi to reach the gate controller but that’s now in place. I used a TP-Link E650 to do that. It can either be a wired WAP or Wi-Fi extender. It’s line of site about 15m to the controller box and good rssi.
The controller box is IP44 rating so should be OK for rain and dust.
The PL800 also works 24V DC and the 240V to 24V transformer was removed and mounted well out of weather reach on and internal wall. A good quality low voltage cable was then run to the PL800.
I already have a Sonoff POWR2 mounted near it to monitor energy consumption
This is the consumption for December so far from HA Energy. Most of this is covered by my solar system.
I was curious as what my energy demands would be from this unit.
I could leave this device in permanently and monitor it’s status via HA but was hoping for a smarter solution. I might be ambitious but hey, you never know?
Hey, I know it’s been almost 3 years since your initial post but have you had any luck with the integration of Powertech Eyeopen in HomeAssistant? I also have a product from them and it would be a dream to be able to open/close and check the state of the gate from HA.
