Pre Announcement: HADasboard v2!

Once I get access to the beta I will try to create a skin based on the customized dashboard I posted earlier.

Oh I love it. Let me at it. lol

As a result of your previous customizations, and the work Rob has been doing I have decided to add the custom skinning ability right into the Beta - it will take a few more days to get to the open beta but it will be awesome - hopefully we can have a huge array of cool looking skins when we launch!

Looking great guys, I bought a couple of android tablets for this, but am now waiting for version 2 to actually use them. Quite happy to do testing, count me in for sure.

Lol, the way this is going the entire user base will be on the beta

I’m down with that!

Thanks for this… I can relax and stop checking every 30 mins!

Hey I have an other request.

My tablet screen real estate is kind of limited, so if if there was an option to “circle” or switch dashboards/pages every x seconds that would be awesome.

automaticly changing dashboards is absolutely not nice.
suppose you want to switch a light on, you would have to wait until it is there and when its there you need to be quick enough or have the risk that you click on something else that you dont want.

when you have little space you can work with sub menus and a main menu.

Or size down the widgets a little in scale for your tablet. You could do that already with v1 but on v2 it will be even easier.

I have to agree with Rene on animating the panels to rotate, but I am looking at some interesting options for the future for skinning so if you can be patient, I may be able to provide a better solution. (But it will be AFTER the public beta.)

I agree with Rene and Rob, but it’s a fairly easy feature to add without impacting anyone else’s use so I have added it to the list.

I can see a usecase for this - cycle between 2 or more informational panels, both with buttons to navigate to static screens with widgets that need interaction.

I could see a widget cycling on a static screen to be very useful, or perhaps better to say a widget holder that loads a cycle of widgets while the rest of the panel stays put.

As it stands it’s very easy to just load the next page of a dashboard as needed via the buttons at the bottom as supplied in the sample .erb.

A widget that cycled through, say, the temperature in all your rooms? I could see that being useful in limited screen real estate.

Anyway, we are being tantalized by new features, I am not one to rush developers, but bring it on! (In due course naturally).

I like the idea of the widget itself cycling much better than the whole panel. This could be a pretty useful feature.

Yes i agree, but definitely a post release enhancement

The hype is real, can’t wait to try this out!

I was waiting something more like those dashboard for openhab. I mean it’s nice but not what i was waiting for . anyway… GREAT WORK!

what you can create with this is an exact copy from all that openhab dashboards has to offer, and way beyond that.
(or at least from what i can find on openhab dashboards on google)

maybe at first there will be some widgets failing, but they will come along soon enough.

Was more thinking about something like this

like i said you can do that kind of stuff as soon as extra widgets are added in the future.

off course with some exceptions where HA doesnt have entities for
