Pre Announcement: HADasboard v2!

Sign me up!

I’d love to contribute the Docker setup

OK thanks to you both on the Docker side. I have made the Docker changes that are necessary but I haven;t tested it yet - you can be the first

Also very willing to help test with Docker.

Thanks!

I’m definitely available to beta. Have a permanent tablet mounted on the wall running V1.
Only thing I ask is that dimming lights is rethought (slider?) or the +/- button touch area is increased. I always ended up turning the lights off and on every time I tried to dim them.

Excited!

i never had that problem, but i can understand it on a small Phone.
the option for that problem is/was to use more widgetspace for it. make the dimmer 2x2 and you dont have that problem.

I always hated the dimmer too - I inherited it from the original version, but I use scenes so don’t touch it much.

For the initial release we are still stuck with the dimmer I am afraid, but I have plans to rebuild it from scratch and add a color picker for colored bulbs. My idea is that you tap the widget and it pops up a much larger area for you to control the brightness (with a slider) and color (I guess by touching a specific place on a color map)

For now, try Rene’s suggestion.

Yeah it’s not a huge deal for me either, just one of those things where you have it and you want it to work. Most dimming I do by scenes or from the wall switch also. The popup with dim/color details sounds good to me :+1:

Might work better being 2x2 but that takes up a lot of room. For me it seems like only if I catch the red area in the picture it works.

Can’t wait!

Man, stop beating up poor Dimmer. He does a yeoman’s job! LOL

BTW, in the pre-beta I was able to tweak this a bit by changing the icon_size and text_size to end up with a bigger target. It looks a little funny compared to the other light widgets next to it, but it does work. I assume if you go with proposed idea in discussion last night, this may be even more flexible.

I just stopped in to beat up on the dimmer as well! I have one on my dashboard but only leave it there to frustrate my wife…

Thanks for your support everyone, the wait will be well worth it I promise!

@ReneTode and @rpitera have both been hard at work testing and making suggestions. Things have evolved significantly and I am nearing the end of my list of things I need to get done for the Beta. Only problem is Rob an Rene keep adding to it

I am hoping to get to a point where we can open this up sometime over the weekend.

I’m excited…can’t wait!

All of the above sounds pretty awesome! But I must say: all of the dashboards I saw until now (here and in other places) look a little pale … Maybe something like this would be nice to have as well? I’d love to contribute!

Looks pretty cool - and the good news is that you can do all of that and more in v2 already without editing any of the widgets, we have it all available in skins, or just as parameters for individual widgets  I am hoping that we can get some real skinning going in the beta, @rpitera is taking the lead but I am sure a lot of others will like to pitch in.

By the way, it looks pretty cold where you are!

I cant wait to see this in action

Since @aimc gave his approval, here is one of the out of the box skins that will come with the public beta, called “Zen”. It was inspired by a request from @ReneTode for a light skin with dark titles/values. There should be at least one of each widget type in this screen

The next one is a dark and shiny and has a more bad ass tone called “Obsidian” and I’ll be posting it later today once I get it updated for the new code. I’m shooting for three in the beta, not sure what I’m doing for the third but I’m going to try to push the limits a bit! Hope you guys like it and think it’s worth the wait!

With Osaka Punch playing in the background on the Google Home, I’m off to work on Obsidian!
