Precise Location Tracking - Similar to Life360

Hello,

I have seen Life360’s functionality (which by the way, seems pretty nice) working before, and wanted to see if I could achieve something similar using HA (or HACS). Life360 has been selling user location data (as shared in the news) so connecting with them is not an option.

HA apps can report location every X amount of time. I have seen this under “Location Tracking” in the app settings.

Is there a was to process this into something more meaningful and plot a map where the smartphone device has been? Thinking of a safe way to track family location ( where data is only sent to a private HA server and not a third party service like Life360 ).

Ideas?

The problem I have moving from Life360 is that the HA Companion Apps aren’t nearly as precise or real-time as is Life360.

I agree. However I’d want to test if is at least useable.I’d be willing to trade some accuracy to keep things private. Just checking if there’s any automation solution tried with location to achieve a similar purpose…
