Preferred Notification System for HASS?

What is your favorite notification system to use within HASS? I’m trying out Pushbullet now and trying to discover exactly what it can do. I’d like to know if you all have any favorites that does exactly what you want it to.

Thanks, Happy Automating!

  • Telegram bot
  • TTS broadcasts to my chromecast audio / Google
    Home
  • InstaPush to our iPhones
  • Persistent notifications in the UI

All depending on urgency/context of course.

Check my other post in this forum with link to my configuration for specific use cases (not the latest version though, will update later this weekend)

Pushbullet for notifications when I am away, GHome via TTS for notifications when I am home. I have Pushbullet on my AndroidTV, but I haven’t set it up and tested it yet.

I also have HTML5 notifications setup, but I still haven’t got around to using them for anything.

Telegram…

I like Pushover. Was already using it before HA.

What is the embodiment of html5 push notifications for chrome on android? Do they require chrome to be in the foreground, or do they behave like any other notification (e.g. an incoming text)? Or do they take some other form?

Thanks!

Edit: further investigation revealed that my question has mostly been answered: “html5 also supports Chrome and Firefox on Android, which enables native-app-like integrations without actually needing a native app.” But, if someone cares to embellish that a bit, I’d still appreciate it.

The one experience I had with them (got them set up and then got sidetracked and never used them) was that it appeared as a standard notification and didn’t require Chrome to be in the foreground.

Now that I’ve got them up and running, I have found the same thing! All thanks to @Darklyte’s fantastic guide.

@335iguy, I’m perhaps ill-equipped to comment on this topic as I only just now finished setting up html5 notifications, but I’m liking it so far. I love not having to install another app, and basically no client-side configuration (for chrome on android, at least!).

I also use text to speech broadcasts on my home audio player, which I quite like.

I wound up setting up Pushbullet for phone notifications. Haven’t quite figured out how to push those notifications to two phones…yet. I also have to put these projects on the backburner as I have 2 projects that require attention (one of them entails purchasing my first home ).

I also used automations and scripts to use Google TTS to announce when someone has arrived home, as well as temperature notifications (too hot or too cold, I don’t have a smart thermostat yet). I’m sure I’ll dig more into it. I’d love to utilize AutoVoice for future projects, but for now, Pushbullet is my go-to for this appication.

XMPP as a German paranoid citizen in France i wanna keep all data close to me and try to avoid as much external Data exchange as possible.

It sends me pics at motion detection in front of the house and informs me about certain sensors like door or lamps I’m still struggling with http-Upload bro proper send files like short movies as well

Persistent notification also …But as i will swap to dashboard i will wait for upcoming notifications for this
