What is everybody using for presence detection? If you’re using node red. I use a ping with my router for my wife and my phone. I also use the home assistant mobile app with its presence detection. I was looking at some BLE options, as home assistant app provides a BLE beacon from your phone. But what other options have people used. I tried own tracks for a while but it drained my battery down like nothing else. We recently got rid of life 360 as it seem like it wasn’t working for what we needed and my wife and my kids didn’t want it on their phones. Just curious to see if anyone’s come up with any other solutions. I was trying to use ESP presences but I can’t figure out the Bluetooth IDs with all of the Bluetooth devices throughout my house. Depends of which kind of presence you are looking for ?
House presence ?
Count number of people of the family ?
Room presence ?
BLE can give room presence
IP connected to check phone presence then you know if kids,wife etc are at home or not.
camera with recognition is may be an alternative solution.
PIR/mwave presence of someone (but you don’t know who , can be a dog)
Any sensors that can help to determine something like door open/close or weight sensor if you want to play 
Lidar or TOF expensive solution
