I prefer to run the more fully featured Z-Wave JS MQTT plugin as it has better Z-Wave admin tools and less bugs, and since its API compatible with HomeAssistant it just works as a drop in for Z-Wave JS. The problem is Home Assistant Supervisor keeps installing and trying to start Z-Wave JS which causes massive CPU spikes and resource conflicts since Z-Wave JS MQTT already has the controls on usb stick. Anyone know how to stop this from reinstalling/restarting or should I open a ticket on Github for a feature enhancement?
You should add the zwave_js integration again without removing it first and say ānoā to using the addon. Then stop and uninstall the zwave_js addon.
Sorry, could you, please give more details?
Just that. Add the zwave_js integration again and tell it not to use the addon. Then stop and uninstall the zwave_js addon.
I was having the same problem, and I couldnāt believe the solution could be so simple
But itās true⦠if anyone is having this problem, just add the ZwaveJS integration (as if you had never installed it at all), and HA will ask you if you want to use the ZwaveJS supervisor add-on. Uncheck that box. Click okay, and HA will tell you that ZwaveJS Integration is already installed⦠but the important part of disabling the ZwaveJS Add On will have been done.
Im going to vote this the safer solution, I had done the first one where I removed the zwave integration at first but then it deleted all my devices and entities. At least I had a backup to restore too, but after doing this one it has seemed to stay away and not reinstall. Just a tip copy and paste the currently used ws url before re-running setup as you will need it to continue.
Safer solution compared to what? My reply above explicitly said āwithout removing itā: Prevent Z-Wave JS Server from reinstalling when using Z-Wave JS MQTT plugin - #2 by rccoleman
So glad I found this thread from reddit.
I am about to drop my Synology Docker version of HA as my HA Blue appliance arrived yesterday.
I have been using Vera as the ZWave antenna but have bought a ConBee II (ZHA I realize) and an Aeotec Gen5+.
Would I install the Gen 5+ ZWave USB controller to the old instance first, image a backup, then follow the installation instructions for switching to ZwaveJS2MQTT? I was hoping to do a ācleanā install as this has been a dev instance of HA and I know the registry has a bunch of failed ZWave nodes I donāt want to carry over.
Any advice on switching and installing a new ZWave driver would be greatly appreciated.
