This question is for anyone who knows about Tuya’s Developer Platform. Last year I ran an automation that apparently sent too many requests through my free account. They cancelled me. That’s fine. I just created another account. This year I’m planning to send the same automation through Tuya Local. And while this does indeed keep the triggers from going through the developer platform, the status updates still do. Does anyone know if this will also get me cancelled?
Hi Glenn,
I believe the cancellation of account you speak of affected everyone, as they changed their terms of service and API.
I am also guessing you are using the Home Assistant Core Tuya app. I believe there is a cloud icon in the HA docs page for it, so it continues to be cloud dependent. I think there are a couple of other integrations that do not rely on the cloud available in GitHub thru the HACS integration. I have not tried those.
So you’re saying I got cancelled because they changed their terms and not because of my overuse? Well, I hope that’s the case. Regardless though, I am using Tuya Local now and it’s much more responsive than bouncing through Tuya’s US data center. It also has much better default templates for the devices. Thanks.
