Problem with automatic backup when target not reachable at HA startup

I have a Synology NAS, so I have configured HA automatic backup with a target on this Synology DSM. But my NAS isn’t running 24/7, it starts at 10am and shuts down at 11pm. Of course the time for my (weekly) automatic backup is inside this time frame.

It seems that HA checks availability of this backup target only at startup and disables the backup target if HA starts (after some HA update) e.g. at 9am before the NAS has started. I get a “repair backup target” notification but that is really odd. When I don’t do this “repair” (which needs manual start of my NAS or wait with the repair until NAS started) the automatic backup will fail as it doesn’t re-check for availability.

So why this check for backup target at startup of HA and not just when the automatic backup runs?

@Sir_Goodenough Not sure why you put this into “Installation”, my ha system is runing for 1,5years now. Tbh I’m a bit disappointed that nobody reacted to this post so far. Maybe I should go to git repositories to place an issue about that.

Installation means anything to do with the back-end of your installation, Back-ups, Networking, CLI all the stuff that is not the entities, devices, automations, frontend, etc. It also deals with initial install, but is only part of it.
