Problems installing Home Assistant in VirtualBox

Hello everyone, I currently have the problem that I try to install Home Assistant in a VirtualBox VM. If I follow the instructions accordingly, I do not get to the expected screen after starting the VM. But I see in the CLI the text from the screenshot. After some googling I think that the dealock is somehow due to the kernel. Do any of you have an idea for the solution of the problem?

In the long run, I plan to install the software on a Raspberry Pei anyway. For a first test run, however, I would like to do it in a VM.

Thanks in advance to everone trying to help:)

which screenshot??

And did you bother to search the forum? If i’m not mistaken, this question was asked one or two days ago(on which the last reply was given 7hrs ago)…you might as well continue that thread…(or one of the other 254.629 threads regarding this topic)

Somehow the Screenshot didn‘t Upload. Hopefully it will work now. Of course I‘ve searched but I didn‘t find this problem in specific.

If you can share the screenshot of your VM configuration it will be more helpful. To me it seems an issue with the VM. Also please share the versions of Windows and VirtualBox.

Windows is on Version 21H2/Build 19044.1826
vBox Version: 6.1.18 (r142142)

The Configuration looks as follows:

Your Linux system is not correct. Please create the VM using the following settings. For memory use 2048 not 1024.

Before you start the VM make certain your settings are as follows:

use EFI

you need to use bridged networking with a physical adapter in your machine (disregard the setting below specifying Hyper-V as I have a complicated setup).

If an adapter does not work when you deploy the VM choose one until HAOS can pickup a DHCP address.

for audio use the following:

about network I have a subsequent question:

Do we set promiscuous mode “deny” or “allow all”…? (What does it do in the context of HA, BTW?)

Instead of relying what people think this mode is, just read this article: Promiscuous mode - Wikipedia

To answer your question directly, please read this support note: Promiscuous Mode Operation

I have exactly the same problem and everything is configured as you’ve shown. I’m stuck to HA OS 7.6 and I cant update or make new install.
