Problems upgrading to .86.x?

As per my reply in the other thread, you are going to have to edit that file to fix this… but you will need to ‘stop’ home assistant via ssh before you do that edit. And then restart when you are done.

Actually, try using ssh to upgrade to 0.86.2 instead of x.1 maybe .2 fixes this…

This is what the upgrade to 86.2 looks like, David:

Can I cancel the “wrong” core.entity_registry or cancel the entries containing “sensor.internetgatewaydevicev2__aimcenter_packets_sent”

(Oh what I would like to be so secure on that as you are David!).

Most of that is just info and a couple of warnings… nothing to fix.

I had the same issue with the fritz IGD… you need to fix the double __ and you probably can’t fix that if HA is running. So:
Remove the UPnP/IGD that created them
Stop HA
Use SSH and edit the core_entity file to correct the double __
Restart HA and then check again that the doubles are gone
Try and upgrade again and then if successful you can add the UPnP/IGD again.

I had exactly the same issue going from b1 to b2 and it was the only fix I could see and it worked…

Super David, I’ll give it a try… sorry beeing so stupid:

Could you KISS me these sentences, please David:
“Remove the UPnP/IGD that created them”
“Use SSH and edit the core_entity file to correct the double” __

I dont understand what UPnP/IGD is and (maybe) never used SSH.

Thanks a lot, David.

Found SSH, will install it and try! No UPnP/IGD in Integrations.

Ah ok… so how did you end up with IGD sensors? Just through the fritzbox component?

I am having issues upgrading from v85.1 to v86.2. It goes through the motions and in the end, comes back with config verification failed and do you want to revert to 85.1. Anyone know what could be causing it?

David, I managed to eliminate the double scores (using the web interface) in the core.entity_registry. Now it looks like:
“entity_id”: “sensor.internetgatewaydevicev2_aimcenter_packets_sent”

But anyway, the upgrade process will not take place as there is a task (impossible for me to know what kind of task) that blocks the upgrade process:

19-01-26 14:46:58 ERROR (MainThread) [hassio.utils] Can’t execute update while a task is in progress

At time of this error we were even out of the home in a nearby Restaurant since hours. I really don’t know how to fix that. For the moment I will pause in the efforts as it works all pretty fine under 85.1. The only thing I’ve seen is that the home assistant._v2.db has an error which does not make any harm to the working of Home Assistant:

‘utf-8’ codec can’t decode byte 0xad in position 27: invalid start byte

Deleting the database does not solve the error, it will be back, but all worked fine anyway.

To answer your question David about the Net Monitor (it is possible that I tried the integration of UPnP as it came out but cancelled it later as I don’t used it) I have done the Fritzbox Job like this:

Configuration.yaml:

fritzbox:
devices:
- host: ‘xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx’
username: !secret fritz_user
password: !secret fritz_password

device_tracker:

  • platform: fritz
    host: 1xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
    track_new_devices: yes
    username: !secret fritz_user
    password: !secret fritz_password
    interval_seconds: 30
    consider_home: 300
    new_device_defaults:
    track_new_devices: true
    hide_if_away: false

sensor:

  • platform: fritzbox_netmonitor

And it does exactly what I need so far: presence of family cellular phones on FritzBox for automation, Fritz switches for Power Diagnosis of Heatpump and others and Internet access, external IP etc. Hope this is helpful to you.

Wish you a pleasant Week End.

Louis

The UTF error will be an invalid character in one of your yaml files… common one is the degrees symbol. Use an editor to make sure all your yaml files are in UTF8 format… some editors will change this to western or something else that causes issues. Also check they use Linux LF not windows CRLF but that usually isn’t an issue…

Thanks a lot David, hope you’ve got a good week-end. I did already checked all my .yaml’s with BBEDIT, a Programmers Editor for Mac’s, copying the whole text to/from by saving it in-between in the Unicode (UTF-8) format and with Unix (LF). Therefore I think there shouldn’t be any wrong characters in it.

Does an empty db2 make any harm to HA’s operations? (The snapshots are down to 20 MBs formally over 400 MB’s) Are these snapshots suitable to restart from scratch?

Louis

Oh… that seems very small. You should look in the tar file and see if all your data is there… sceptical!

In the folder2a8c9320 of last snapshot there are the following files:
7bce6681_esphomeyaml.tar.gz - 981 byte
a0d7b954_ftp.tar.gz - 1 KB
a0d7b954_ssh.tar.gz - 2 KB
addons_local.tar.gz - 144 byte
core_cec_scan.tar.gz - 734 byte
core_check_config.tar.gz - 818 byte
core_configurator.tar.gz - 1 KB
core_mosquitto.tar.gz - 1 KB
core_samba.tar.gz - 1 KB
homeassistant.tar.gz - 18.8 MB
share.tar.gz - 137 byte
snapshot.json - 2 KB
ssl.tar.gz - 135 byte

whyle homeassistant.tar.gz contains:
all my yaml’s
all the folders like:
custom_components
deps
esphomeyaml
www
homebridge
tts
and I got the:
home-assistant_v2.db - 4,1 MB
home-assistant.log - 36 KB

Thanks a lot so far, you are a fountain of wisdom, I will try to look into the database with SQL in order to look if I find something useful.

Louis (the Newbe)

Look in the home assistant tar file - it contains your most important files - the yaml ones…

0.86.3 fixes this, upgrade works perfectly, when you upgrade remove the double underscores from the Lovelace UI YAML file or through the browser.

David, with the upgrade to 86.4 everything went trough smoothly and it works like charm. With no intervention from my side whatsowever. I’am happy, thanks for your tips. 86.4 did the trick.
