Problems with HA and Z-wave

So, I tried the approach suggested by @13_letters from the comment field in the thread below, without success. Or, that is, I was able to install HA properly, access it and it recognized my tv and chromecast right away.
I accessed the configuration.yaml file thru putty and added the z-wave with usb path as suggested in the z-wave section on HA.io. After I ad this code to configuration.yaml I am no longer able to access HA from the browser. I tried removing the code againt and its back.

I installed samba but i cant find the file on the server even though i see the RPi device

Any suggestions to what I am doing wrong?
Bare in mind I have barely touched a RPi before.

You need to find out why it will not start. You can look at the log file for that:

cat /home/homeassistant/.homeassistant/home-assistant.log

That might give you a clue why it will not start.
