Problems with Zwave and resolution

I want to share my experience this week.
From one moment to another I had issues with my Zwave (62 devices). I do not know why but I assume that there was a short interruption of power to the HA.
Some Zwave devices worked and some did not, and those that worked responded after a long time, sometimes minutes, sometimes hours. Most automations did not work.
I was able to make all, except 2 wall switches, again available after doing a re-routing for each. However this did not resolve the considerable lag issue with all the Zwave devices.
I believes that HA was working hard to reconnect to the 2 remaining devices and that was the reason of the lag issue. I finally disconnected the 2 devices from the power and reconnected them. This was easy by using the power break.
That resolved the issue with the 2 devices available again and the lag issue disappeared.

Zwave is the main protocol I use for my switches. In total 74 devices. Not all ZWave stuff is built the same though. For starters your controller could be the cause of some lag. I currently use the Zooz LR800 USB Dongle but I do remember I had the Zooz 700 series before that was causing all sorts of issues. I believe a firmware update resolved it but I just ended up getting the 800 Dongle.

The other piece is the device itself. I heard of people having issues and reliability with Jasco switches which is why I stayed away from them. I use primarily Zooz switches and then Innovelli switches for the ones that require occupancy sensors. If your issue is just localized to 2 devices what about these devices are different from the rest? Could be they need a firmware update. The other thing you can try is Re-Interviewing the device...that has usually fixed little gremlins on some of my problem devices in the past.

Thanks, I don't think that firmware is the issue and re-interviewing does not resolve it either. It has happened before, though not often. Somehow the devices lose their Zwave connection and rebooting the devices (switches) resolves it.
