Can anyone recommend a programmable thermostat type tile or add-on for hassio, currently I have a series of mqtt climate devices, and set of rules for each room, which is way too technical for the rest of the house. Ideally I’d be looking for something like programmable thermostat where you set a start and end time, and a target temp, then it heats/cools as appropriate, even better would be if you can set a range of temperatures for each time slot. Anybody any ideas?

I’m going to jump on this tho so forgive the question…

Is that thermostat completely local or requires cloud to function?

zwave. yes it is local.

if your zwave hub is smartthings then NO. I assume OpenZwave on server

yes z stick on the server.

i asked because it seems that most thermostats that are zwave still require the could connection to function properly.

I use these with HA

Allows basics like
-switch between heat, cool, and auto
-set heat and cool temp
-shows current temp and heat/cool set temps
-fan on/auto/off

Each thermostat exposes 4 entity
-heat set temp/current temp
-cool set temp/current temp
Others but I don’t use and don’t fully understand. I believe away set/temp is one

Back to the original question, are they any decent custom cards, or addons, not hardware solutions, that are worth a look?

Coming back to this, after 3 years and some time away on other projects, I’m still looking for a programmable thermostat that allows me to set different temperatures at different times etc. And automatically choose to heat/cool/off etc. Anybody any ideas?

I’m looking for the same thing, I’m thinking I should turn off my thermostat in the card then just make automations like a programable style thermostat would have it’s settings. Not sure how hard this will be but I will let ya know if I get it working.
